Quick (Political) Fix: Thinning of the Herd

Quick (Political) Fix: Thinning of the Herd
By Walter Beck

Alright, I’m gonna make this a quick one, I’m tired, having been up since roughly 5:00 AM, but we did have the next debate last night and being that I’m known for my vicious political addiction and loud mouth to boot, I feel I should say something about last night’s verbal brawl.

Last time, it turned into a mudslinger match between Perry and Romney, with Santorum throwing in the jabs when he could. But it looks like last night; Perry himself was in the hot seat with all eyes on him as he stumbled over his words.

Apparently as part of his economic plan, he would cut three government agencies, Commerce, Education and um…well, he couldn’t remember what the third one was. Later on, he remembered, it was the Department of Energy, but by then he already looked like a dumbass in front of the whole country.

Here’s the thing, if Perry wants to be President, he has to be able to think on his feet and if he’s gonna screw up a softball question thrown out by a debate monitor in very controlled circumstances, well perhaps it’s best for him to just go back to Texas.

In other debate highlights, Herman Cain tried to cover his ass over the recent sexual harassment allegations against him, saying that the American people “don’t care about character assassination” (which is complete bullshit, character assassination is the bread and butter of American politics). And Newt Gingrich couldn’t give a straight answer on health care, other than to say that Obama’s health care plan sucks. Newt has yet to offer an alternative plan.

So there we are, another debate done and with the first voters going to the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire in under two months (Iowa Caucus scheduled for January 3rd and the New Hampshire Primary scheduled for January 10th), it’s about to get even hotter.

By the time Super Tuesday rolls around on March 6th,  with eleven state primaries that day, I think the race will have boiled down to a fight between Cain and Romney. Ron Paul’s gonna hold out as a matter of principle, just as he did in 2008. But I think we’re already seeing the hard lines being drawn.
